Straight Stitch
The Straight Stitch is the simplest of all stitches. Just bring the needle up at A and down at B. Pull until all slack is removed from the thread and it lies in a straight line on the fabric. That’s it. Really.

Finished Stitch :

What can be done with the Straight Stitch? A lot. A detached starburst pattern. Pine needles. Whiskers on a cat face.

Hints :
-
Keep the stitch short. Longer stitches tend to become “toe-catchers”.
-
When making several parallel or nearly parallel stitches, always stitch in the same direction. In other words, stitch a starburst from the center out. If you try to conserve thread by alternating the direction for each stitch, then the stitches will not look even.
Uses :
- Small leaf or petal
- Star or sun ray
- Whisker
- Short stem
