Smocked Lavender Bath Sachet

  1. Cut a 6” x 8 ½” piece of muslin
  2. Finish one long edge by turning under twice and stitching
  3. Pleat 6 half-rows ½” away from the finished edge
  4. Tie off smocking to 2 ½”, leaving ½” on each side un-pleated
  5. Smock rows 2 & 5 with the cable stitch, and smock a baby-wave between rows 3 & 4
  6. If you want to, embroider a little design (a flower, an initial, etc.) in the center of the bag
  7. Using a zig-zag or serged stitch, sew the 2 short sides right-sides together
  8. Similarly, stitch the remaining unfinished side
  9. Turn the bag right-side out
  10. Fill with a mixture of powdered milk, powdered oatmeal, and dried lavender
  11. Thread a ribbon or string under the baby wave to close the bag.  Tie the ribbon or string into a bow about 4-5” from the bag to make a loop to hang on the bathtub faucet
